No place quite like Simply Charming can be found in Kent County, DE. The shop has been described as a “shabby blend of new and old”. Owners Kim Bomberger and Barbara Gooden personally attend estate sales, auctions and home downsizings to acquire unique pieces. The two have been neighbors for a number of years and eventually turned their hobbies into what is now, a very successful business. With two great locations within blocks of each other Simply Charming offers something for everyone. The first of the two locations opened in 2010 at 2 South Railroad Street in Wyoming, a building built in the 1800’s that once served as a train station.
The second location opened in 2013 at 11 Mill Street in Wyoming, a building also built in the 1800’s and commonly known as Wyoming Mill. Not only does Simply Charming offer vintage and antique goods, but they also have the historical setting to showcase them.
Kim and Barbara currently rent out spaces in the shops to dealers looking for a place to sell their pieces, however the waiting list to get in is quite long. Once these dealers come to Simply Charming they are reluctant to give up their space because the business is consistent and profitable. When asked why they believe they’ve experienced such success, Kim said “We filled a niche that was otherwise lacking in this area”.
